My name is Kendall Pry and I am a student at Southern Utah University majoring in communications. I do not remember when my love for photography started, but in about eighth grade, my dad gave me his canon camera, and ever since then, my love for photography has grown exponentially. My sophomore year of high school, I took my first photography class, which was basically an intro to the camera and Photoshop class. After that class I continued to take photos on my own outside of class. My senior year I got a new camera, a Nikon D3400 which I then used when I took my advanced photography class second semester of senior year. During the summer, I made it a goal to try different things on my camera to better understand it, and to take pictures that I have always wanted to. The major new photo I tried to get familiar with, was a slow shutter speed photo, or more specific, a slow shutter speed light painting photo like the one shone above. My love for photograph carried over into college, where I am taking yet another photography class, and learning even more. I have a love for photography, and I just want to be able to take pictures for others and myself to enjoy. My parents have always said that I have an eye for photography, and I didn't fully understand what that meant until just recently when I met the schools photographer. I was sitting waiting for the sunrise and in the process of taking a reflection picture, I had sat down to take the picture and the photographer said " I have seen that position all too many times." He then went on to explain that it is normal for people to stand up and take a picture, so once you sit down or do something else to take a picture, it is no longer considered the norm. I feel like that what my parents meant when they said I " had an eye for photography," I look for the shot that is not noticed by just standing up.
